The short version about the tabs
The downloadable whistle tabs created and posted by Whistle Hymns are intended to be freely used. You may copy, print, share, adapt, perform, record, and redistribute them without asking permission. Attribution is appreciated, but it is not required.
1. Purpose of the site
Whistle Hymns provides simple tin whistle tablature, historical information, and example performances to help people learn and enjoy familiar Christian hymns. The materials are offered for general educational, musical, devotional, and informational purposes.
2. Public-domain hymns and whistle tabs
Whistle Hymns seeks to feature hymn melodies and lyrics that are believed to be in the public domain in the United States. Copyright rules and public-domain status can differ in other countries, so you are responsible for confirming that your intended use is lawful where you live.
To the extent Whistle Hymns owns copyright or related rights in an original tablature transcription offered for download on this site, those rights are waived and the tab is dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0 Universal. This dedication permits personal, church, educational, nonprofit, and commercial use without requesting permission.
This public-domain dedication applies only to downloadable whistle tabs created and posted by Whistle Hymns. It does not transfer rights that may belong to someone else.
3. Music, arrangements, and recordings are separate
A public-domain hymn may still have a modern arrangement, translation, edition, performance, or recording that is protected by copyright. The U.S. Copyright Office treats a musical composition and a particular sound recording as separate works. For more information, see its guidance on musical compositions and sound recordings.
Videos, recordings, linked performances, and third-party materials are not covered by the CC0 dedication unless they are expressly identified that way. A link to a performance does not grant permission to copy or redistribute that performance.
4. Other Whistle Hymns content
The Whistle Hymns name, logo, emblem, banners, website design, original written introductions, photographs, and other site content are not placed in the public domain unless expressly stated. They may be viewed and shared through ordinary links, but they may not be copied, republished, sold, or used to suggest sponsorship or endorsement without permission, except as allowed by applicable law.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, introduce malicious code, use the site for unlawful activity, or misrepresent your relationship with Whistle Hymns. Nothing in this section limits the freedoms granted for CC0 whistle tabs.
